Calling All CRM Users: Please send feedback on the new DYNAMIC HELP Features!

"This feature was introduced in the Dynamics CRM 2015 for Outlook Client and is referred to as “Dynamic Help”.   Prior to this feature, the Outlook Client included a help link that always directed you to the same troubleshooting page regardless of which error you encountered.  For each error code that occurs during configuration, Dynamic Help can now direct you to a KB article designed to help resolve that specific issue.  This feature was also backported to CRM 2013 Update Rollup 1 for Service Pack 1 and CRM 2011 Update Rollup 18.  The Dynamic Help feature is also included in the new CRM App for Outlook. "

What is a Microsoft Dynamics CRM View?

Within Microsoft Dynamics CRM each entity has a set of system views. These system views can be configured or added to and as such are a powerful feature within the system. You can even create new views.

So what exactly is a view?

If you are familiar with a spreadsheet, you know that you have rows and columns of data and each piece of data sits in its own little cell. A view in Dynamics CRM is just like a spreadsheet. It has rows and columns of data. Additionally any given view in the system also let's you "click" and export to Excel.

Other powerful features of views include the ability to add columns of data from not just the entity where the view is defined, but from every entity that is related to the entity where the view is defined.

You can also sort views of data by clicking on the header of a column and secondarily sort by shift clicking on the next column.

People using Dynamics CRM can also use "Advanced Find" to create their own personal views of data. So if your IT Department is a bit buried under a long to-do list, you don't have to wait. You can create your own personal views AND you can even share these views with your peers or manager.

OK, so you really don't want to give up Excel and all the pivoting and graphics that you can do with it. Guess what, you don't have too! Views feed Excel and all the powerful data manipulation techniques that Excel offers. Check Out PowerView, PowerBI and PowerPivot, if you love Excel, you will go over the top with these Excel add-ins. CRM + Microsoft Excel "Better Together"

Views have another role within the world of Dynamics CRM. They feed charts, so setup your favorite view and then use the CRM Chart feature to chart the data from that view. These charts can be added to Dashboards for instant, dynamic, graphical love!

If you want to learn even more about views you can read about them in the MSDN library entry called Customize Entity Views.

The Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Microsoft Office Outlook for Microsoft CRM Professional Edition for Service Providers

File nameFile versionFile sizeDateTime
Crmaddin.dll 3.0.5745.1032 1,181,032 25-Jan-2007 00:37

Installation information

Install this hotfix on computers that are running Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server components or the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook.

Note The Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook includes both the Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client for Outlook and the Microsoft Dynamics CRM desktop client for Outlook.

If you are using Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, this hotfix contains one Microsoft Dynamics CRM server installation file and three Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook installation files. The Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook file that you must install depends on the version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook that you are running. To determine which version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook that you are running, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
2. Click Microsoft CRM, and then click Click here for support information.
3. If you are using Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Microsoft Office Outlook 3.0, the version is 3.0.5300.0. If you are using the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Compatibility Release, which is the compatibility version for Windows Vista and for 2007 Office, the version is 3.0.5300.1361.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM server

If you are using either Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook or Microsoft Dynamics CRM Compatibility Release, you must install the server hotfix that is included in the hotfix download. The file is CRM3.0-KB931270-Server-ENU.exe

Note ENU is the placeholder for the actual language version.

The server hotfix must be installed to maintain file consistency, even though the problem is experienced in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client. This file consistency is required because of dependencies for other hotfixes.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook

If you are using Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook, you must use the following installation file:
CRM3.0-KB931270-Client.ENU.exe
Note ENU is the placeholder for the actual language version.

Install this hotfix if you are using either the Microsoft Dynamics CRM laptop client or Microsoft CRM desktop client.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM Compatibility Release

If you are using the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Compatibility Release desktop client for Outlook, you must install the CRM3.0c-KB931270-DesktopClient-ENU.msp file. If you are using the Microsoft CRM Compatibility Release laptop client for Outlook, you install the CRM3.0c-KB931270-LaptopClient-ENU.msp file.

Notes
An .msp file resembles an .msi executable file.
ENU is the placeholder for the actual language version.
This .msp file is used for installations of Windows Vista and of Microsoft Windows XP. This MSP package installation does not have a user interface wizard. When the hotfix installation runs successfully, the Command Prompt window appears. The window then disappears when the installation succeeds. You receive an error message if there are any problems with the installation.

Prerequisites

You must have Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 installed to apply this hotfix.

Restart requirement

If you are prompted, restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

Removal information

To remove this hotfix from a computer that is running Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server components or the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook, use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. System administrators can use the Spuninst.exe tool to remove this hotfix from a computer that is running Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 server components or the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook.

The Spuninst.exe tool is located in the %Windir%\$NTUninstallKB931270$\Spuninst folder.
